Due to the relentless development of bikes in the
most competitive of classes, Supersport, Metzeler are constantly
proving to match the bike manufacturers pace of improvement. Innovation
and leading technology have always characterized the German brand.
The DNA of Metzeler tyre fit this trend and in
recent years has driven sport bike development, based on an endless
research of improving performance without compromising mileage and most
of all versatility.
Once more Metzeler is anticipating bikers evolving
needs with a new innovative product that improves its range to better
respond to the expectation of tyre performance given by the new
generation bikes.
The new bike models in the Supersport segment have
reached a level of performance that allows us to genuinely say "Race
replica bikes": power has increased and Manufacturers have worked on
reducing weight too, reaching a power to weight ratio close to 1. This
was unimaginable until only a few years ago for a standard production
bike.

The increase in performance and the refinement of
the models have changed users’ expectations. Riders are now more sports
oriented and looking to exploit the real potential of their bike.
So, a new generation of riders are not just seeking performance on the
road but looking to take their bikes onto the racetrack.
This hunt for performance works together with the search for a tyre
that provides good mileage and ensures good behavior throughout its
life.
This was the starting point for Metzeler’s
engineers, working with the purpose of producing a tyre setting new
boundaries for sports riding and also for the occasional track day, but
at the same moment assuring safety in wet conditions and impressive
great mileage with consistent performance throughout its whole life.
An element of big importance is also the tread
pattern, asked to be functional, contemporary, appealing and to
complement the image of this product. Tyres are playing a role of
increasing importance, being not only an accessory but an element of
study and choice for bikers.
The new Sportec M3 comes on top of the Metzeler
range into the Superport segment, but more sports oriented compared to
the previous M-1 and with important technical improvements that allow
the product to maintain safety in wet conditions and a definite
improvement in mileage.
Metzeler technology confirms to be on top of the
category with this product, designed with innovative solutions that
make it the new reference:
A different compound between the front and rear tyre for the best
trajectory precision and stability, assures outstanding grip and good
feeling to better face every situation and every angle of lean.
A front tyre compound with stiffness and friction coefficient developed
to react to the rear tyre push, enhance grip balance of the set and
guarantee higher trajectory precision, while the rear counts on a high
percentage of Silica for quick warm up and wet traction.
Both for the front and for the rear Metzeler used
a further step of innovation of the Multiradius technology.
The combination of front and rear contour has been engineered to offer
a perfect behaviour of the bike in every condition thanks to CMT
(Contour Modelling Technology). On the front the profile is more
rounded and smoother on the shoulder, while the rear contour was
designed with a changing radius from the crown to the shoulder
optimizing the footprint area at every angle. The result is increased
stability and speed, entering into corners with high confidence. The
linearity when leaning assures precision and stability supporting full
power acceleration out of corners.
The new profile goes with a new tread pattern with
a modern look and designed to make important improvements. The land/sea
ratio is designed to maximize dry grip guaranteeing a good feeling in
wet conditions and reducing aquaplaning thanks to the tread grooves
that offer efficient water drainage.
The balance among the different construction
elements and this research of optimization didn’t forget tread pattern
wear and mileage (improved from the previous M-1). A linear progressive
wear assures during the whole life of the tyre, it maintains high
performance and a confidence inspiring overall riding sensation both on
normal roads or pushing on the racetrack.
The construction of the tyre has also contributed
to improvements for the Sportec M3.
The patented zero degree steel belt is settled in order to make the
front tyre softer on the shoulders for an improved confidence feeling,
while the rear was designed to optimize the behaviour of the carcass in
relation to the new profile. This was necessary to have the impressive
grip needed at the different leans by the incredibly powerful latest
Supersport bikes.
The steel employed is an important element of
innovation, chosen for its high elongation modulus preventing
deformation even under high load. The increased stiffness improves the
resistance to lateral forces and tyre deformation. What is felt by the
rider is a better handling and higher stability.
This new construction offers some advantages also
in braking, reducing the stand-up tendency either on normal road or in
late braking in the racetracks. The bike is more stable, and keeps a
perfect trajectory, avoiding the tendency to right itself even when
braking into the corner which happens especially when pushing to the
limit into the racetracks. This improves the confidence of the rider in
every condition.
The elements of strength of this tyre are:- Dry grip
Safe riding and a new benchmark in performance for combined use on the
road and on the racetrack, with a compound that ensures outstanding
grip at every angle of lean.
- Handling
Progressive behaviour guaranteed by the Metzeler patented zero degree steel belt and the Multiradius technology
- Wet performance
High safety feeling thanks to the tread pattern design and the differentiated compound between front and rear.
- Mileage
Improved to offer a versatile product answering to the different needs of all sports riders.
